WHO SHE IS: Larissa J. Schultz, CMP, MHA, is a professional meeting planner. With her hard work ethic and desire to constantly improve upon past achievements, she is a reliable professional who takes great pride in her work and working with her clients. She is detailed-oriented, enthusiastic about projects, and enjoys building upon ideas. Larissa is passionate about the ocean and enjoys spending time as a whale watch naturalist - educating school children (and tourists) about the Pacific Gray Whales' annual migration. Larissa enjoys a good laugh, a good glass of wine, and is known to be the funny one in her relationship. She expects the best of herself and seeks the best for her clients.
WHAT SHE'S DONE: Larissa J. Schultz, CMP, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa and received a Masters degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William F. Harrah Hotel College. In 2001, she received her Certified Meeting Professionals (CMP) designation.
Her background and experience as a strategic meeting planner includes working with corporations and associations planning both domestic and international conferences and meetings. In 2008, she founded LJS Meeting Strategies - a meeting management training, consulting, and event management company dedicated on meeting the unique needs of each individual client. Some of her former employers and clients include: ING Advisors Network, California Association of Realtors®, International Council of Shopping Centers, ICANN, and Cetera Financial Group.She has been an active member of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) for over 15 years and currently sits on the Southern California Chapter Board of Directors as the 2011/2012 President-Elect. She is also an adjunct professor at Glendale Community College teaching in the Hospitality and Tourism program.
During 2008, Larissa published TSA and Me: A Light-hearted Look at Travel Today which was nominated for an independent publishers award in 2009. She is also the author of two training guidebooks - Meeting Planning Basics: A Guide for Administrative Professionals (published in 2009) and Event Planning Basics: Meetings, Conferences, Conventions, Exhibitions and Special Events (published in 2010).
